Panasonic @ CES - The Blu-ray DMR-E700BD live, in person
So we saw the DMR-E700BD—the first ever "consumer" Blu-ray recorder/player, made by Panasonic—all hooked up to a huge plasma HDTV. It was playing a hi-def disc. I, Robot, actually. It looked freaking unreal. We hate wait.

1080i or 720p with DD 5.1 is the HD standard for movies and tv broadcasting.

Although a bunch of new HDTVs are coming out this year that basically do a progressive upres on 1080 (making it 1080p,
the theoretical limit of any HDTV picture) -- yay.
