I have a hard time believing this would ever be used for games (just given the history of previous add-on peripherals and support for them)..... and if so, it seems like it would be limited to maybe a few special edition ones.
I really have to wonder what the purpose of this would be. I can't see how an external HD-DVD drive would really integrate well with the XBOX360 just in terms of appearance, and I wonder what benefit you would get from using that to watch HD-DVD's through the XBOX 360 vs. just going ahead and getting a standalone HD-DVD player. The XBOX 360 doesn't even seem that impressive as a DVD player as it is (can someone tell me if it's actually the case that it doesn't even have any sort of resume memory? When I play DVD's with it, it forgots any settings or where I was watching something if I turn it off and turn it on again), so I can't see why I'd want to choose it as an HD-DVD player either.
Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.
