Exactly what I was gonna say, TheCash - this guy makes me not want to hang around and learn more. And he's just a bad presenter period, no matter what the product. He had an exceptionally annoying and instantly ill-will-generating habit of answering the question "What's this?" by talking not about the thing that the dude has asked him about. Granted, he'd talk about the whole product of which it was a part, but if I ask you "What is this lightsaber?" and you respond "This is Anakin Skywalker's light saber" and then immediately put your hand on R2D2 and start talking about how it's a webcam, I'm going to instantly start to wonder if you're off your gourd, until I figure out on my own that the lightsaber and the droid are two parts of the one product.
Same thing again "...this Millenium Falcon. What's up with this?" "This is R2D2 grown up." Riiiight.
And you're exactly right, I haven't heard anyone so unknowingly be so hugely creepy since I watched an old Michael Jackson interview on google video. Why indeed does he think we're going to be all stoked to get home with our friends, head straight for the bedroom, and get down to some serious on-our-backs-together-on-the-bed fun. Thank Christ Randall cuts him off pretty quick once he launches into "Better yet, how about Sister???" He even throws in just the right(=wrong) emphasis on "all KINDS of pictures".
I suppose it's not too surprising when you remember that the reason he's so stoked about the R2D2 cam is that he can use it to keep an eye on the wife while he's in Japan, no matter where in the house she may try to go to hide.
Maybe my favorite part, though is from about 3:15-3:20, you get a nice long shot of Norm's awesome ring. That ring, in a way, says it all.
Man, I'm gonna have to find a way to save this video to my hard drive. It's such a very rich document of our dads' generation of salesman trying to deal in the products of today.
