Asus shows off GeForce 9500M GS-equipped G1Sn laptop
Asus already let out word of at least one new laptop that'd be packing NVIDIA's new GeForce 9500M GS graphics chipset, but it looks like the company's already busy spreading that welcome addition to some of its other offerings, as evidenced by this familiar-looking model HotHardware spotted at CES. Dubbed the G1Sn, the laptop's an update to the company's G1S gaming laptop, and it apparently boasts mostly the same specs, with the exception of those graphics, of course (a 512MB version in this case). No word on a price or release just yet, but we wouldn't expect Asus to sit on this one for too long.

Does anyone have any more information on this new mobile chip? I've only found reports that this will be a mid-range graphics chip for laptops

Mark, I suspect you're right. If their naming scheme is inline with that of their previous cards (8400,8600,8700,8800), this 9500 will probably end up being an efficient low to mid range dx10 card that's good for light gaming and hi-def video.

Considering that the G1 is a gaming laptop, the 9500M may well be equivalent to the 8600M.

Is that wood trim I see on this laptop?

Nope.
I just bought a G1S, oh well, buyers remorse. The 8600m GT works pretty well so far, only thing that doesn't fly is Crysis. As expected.

perfect example there of why glossy screens suck.

I am after a G2S however I am waiting for a Penryn refresh. There is no mention of a CPU refresh in this G1Sn which is not promising...
