We got a chance to fondle the non-Menlow
Amtek U560 /
Aigo UMPC on the floor of this year's CES, and we've got the pictures to prove it. The XP-running portable had a solid build, though the mechanism for sliding the screen felt a bit janky, and the overall size is possibly more than you want, especially with all the Menlow hotness coming our way this year. Perhaps a gallery of photos might help? Yeah, we thought so.

Man, that thing looks THICK!
I think the only UMPC I'm interested in for this year is the HTC Shift.

This almost looks like a "keeping it real fake" to the Sony UX series UMPC I just got.... Any ideas on how the size differs with regards to that? Also, as a suggestion, I think most people like to see details on native screen depth right in the description. Is this one 1024x600?

New gadget, same as the old gadget.
UMPC will fail. I know that sounds harsh, but why would anyone want this?

Sooooo frickin' ugly.
Bobs @ Jan 11th 2008 8:54PM
Ive said it before, it could be ugly as sin, but if it does what i want it to do, why care about looks?

Is there really a point to adding webcams to all of these UMPCs other than taking up space?
Tiptup300 @ Jan 11th 2008 6:29PM
If I were setting us a CES display I'd have a freaking giant show off the gadgets. Imagine if this thing was pictured in the hands of a giant. IMAGINE!

I actually posted this on the wrong article earlier (some PMP). But Jesus, every ugly small electronic device looks like a Lynx, so to hell with it.
