PMP51 "MP4 MP3 super game" does it all
While a bit vague in the whole naming department, this new no-name OEM PMP51 PMP is actually packing a quite a spec sheet. The primary focus of the handheld is supposedly 32 bit gaming, but sadly SNES is nowhere to be found. But lucky for us there's Game Boy Advance play, in addition to Game Boy, Game Boy Color and NES. The 3-inch screen should show off that emulated Advance Wars just nicely, and the addition of a 1.3 megapixel camera and support for plenty of audio and video formats round out the piece nicely. You can also add memory with miniSD and play your ROMs on the big screen with video out. No word on price or availability.

wow that is one shiny pmp. can you say scratches?
Chris @ Jan 11th 2008 7:51PM
so I take it there's no internal memory? still, that'd be fun to have

One problem I found with all these PMP gaming whatever they are. I recently went back to China and looked at the emu PMPs out on the bazaar. My intentions of buying one is for the GBA emulation. None of the PMPs I found had a start, select, or even the L&R buttons! These pictures don't show the potential area where the L+R buttons could be.

32 Bit gaming huh? Does that mean I can stick a PS emulator on there? Definite buy if that's the case.

Looks attractive, although I'd probably see my reflection more often then the game.
bradwjensen @ Jan 11th 2008 8:33PM
Does it all? So it plays flac and ogg vorbis too?
Taylor @ Jan 11th 2008 8:37PM
I'll let you off for FLAC (audiophiles like it) but seriously, who listens to OGG Vorbis/Theora files?
bradwjensen @ Jan 11th 2008 8:48PM
I rip my friend's CD's to OGG vorbis, and my CD's to FLAC.. THis way I have more of a reason to get the actual physical CD. Theora sucks, but OGG Vorbis sounds the exact same as AAC (sometimes better) at the same bit rate with about the same file size; and its Open Source/Royalty Free. I know this sound quality stuff about them because I've done not only blind listening tests with many of my CD's ripped to both formats, but i've also opened the compressed files in Adobe Audition and looked at the differences in the Spectral views, and fiddled around with them in there.

No SNES? I'll get a gp2x instead.
wootman @ Jan 11th 2008 9:46PM
same.
this is merely a gp2x clone with much less power.
no ps1 emulation, SNES, genesis, commadore, etc.
and the pandora is around the corner, which should be able to do full speed ps1 emulation and n64.
