Seems inexplicably big for an NAS.
This has BitTorrent written ALLLLLL over it.
You can have it be your router, NAS, BT Client and Media Center all in 1 device.
Hey ASUS, are you listening???
Make 3 changes and you have a whole new product.
1) Change the DVI to an HDMI with Audio.
2) Turn the whole device on its side and then rotate the screen so its still oriented properly.
3) Move the Power button to the front
Then offer this in Black and Silver finishes and you have a super cheap HTPC that also does NAS, Router and BitTorrent Client.
And if you really wanted to impress me, make the new HTPC model using an nVidia Chipset instead of the crappy 945GC.
To ASUS: Just do it already! Change your name to EEE, then you can release EEE EEE laptops/netbooks/tablet-netbooks/probably soon: eee paper books (free pen included)....
You've sucseeded in taking what was, at the start, a name that had some commendation, and excitment attached to it, and DESTROYED IT.
To Engadget: Remember when there was sooooooo much apple stuff? You gave us all an option to have a non-appleized rss feed? Can you make a non-eee one, i can't be the only one getting sick of the 15 products they bring out every day..
I'm pretty sure to Asus it doesnt question how their product name will sound with Eee in front of it. Rather, they came up with the meaning Easy to learn, Easy to work, Easy to play and as such put the "Eee" in front of all products that it describes.
I'm sure this is a very easy to learn, use, and play product.
It's not just a NAS. It's a router too... with its own touchscreen, atom processor and 2 gb of ram.
A commenter over at a different site cleverly noted that on the back of the machine there is a Li-Ion recycle logo on the back. Not sure why it would have a battery though. Any hidden features?
Oh, it's got DVD burning capabilities too!

But why would you have a Lithium Ion battery for CMOS? That doesn't make sense to me.
I would like to see an EEE Box with HD capable video card, such as the B206 but then equipped with a touch screen, maybe on the side panel.
it looks intriguing, but I am not sure that it would be worth it at the $600 price point. I already have a linksys wrt610n, so I don't need a router, and the other features can be accomplished probably much better by a drobo.

why does the little paper card say 2TB but on the back sticker it says 2 500Gb hdd?
This could technically replace a router to become a complete mini-pc/router combo... used as a media center.. or a kitchen tv?
I want to see something that supports XBMC... faster processor, screw the extra GFX options. THEN we're talking.

it would be quite silly to pimp it up as a hi-def media center. home server and media center are two different kind of things, until your TV is not always on.
networked homeservers are the natural alternative to cloud computing. and again, the little guys will win and bring you a big big market.
