Look, we fully understand how easy it is to forget all about last week after a hard fought weekend, so we're just letting you know that there's around 24 hours left to cast your name into the hat. What hat, you ask? The hat from which three winners will be chosen to take home a single bag* of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/CES/">CES</a> miscellany and paraphernalia. <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/19/win-a-bag-of-ces-swag/">Head on over</a> and leave a comment!<br /><br />*<em>Pictured bag is not to scale, nor is it representative of what the winning bag will actually look like.</em><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/announcements/" rel="tag">Announcements</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/ces/" rel="tag">CES</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gadgets/" rel="tag">Misc. <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/CES2009/">CES 2009</a> may be over and done with, but we'll be feeling the ramifications of it for months to come. For those not watching for every last announcement from the show, you may be surprised to find that dozens upon dozens of new <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/tag/hdtv">HDTVs</a> were introduced, with many of them slated to start shipping this Spring / Summer. Engadget HD has hosted up a thorough mega-guide to showcase what sets made their debut in Vegas this month, complete with links to more information as well as release windows and pricing where available. If you're even remotely considering a new set this year, you owe it to yourself to give this one a look. <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/2009/01/20/the-hdtvs-of-ces-2009/">Head on over,</a> won't you?<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/ces/" rel="tag">CES</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/displays/" rel="tag">Displays</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/hdtv/" rel="tag">HDTV</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/homeentertainment/" rel="tag">Home Entertainment</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/20/ces-2009-hdtv-mega-guide/">CES 2009 HDTV mega-guide</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 20 Jan 2009 14:00:00 EST. CES may be fading into memory, but the bags of swag we somehow magnetized at the show are still quite present in our lives. Want a little piece of the proceedings to be delivered to your doorstep? Well here's your chance. Every year we get bombarded with various pieces of gear that we can't really hang on to for moral, ethical, and religious reasons. But while our Herculean ability to resist free junk is notable, we don't just let this sweet honeywine go to waste... we send it out to you, our lovable readers. Just follow the instructions below, and win one of the three (3) satchels of joy we have to give. Good luck!<br /><br /><strong>Note:</strong> Three separate winners will be chosen from comments. Just think of how good your odds are!<br /><br />The rules:<br />
<ul>
    <li><strong>Leave a comment below.</strong> Any comment will do, but shameless flattery or embarrassing childhood memories are cool too.<br /></li>
    <li><strong>You may only enter this specific giveaway once.</strong> If you enter this giveaway more than once you'll be automatically disqualified, etc. (Yes, we have robots that thoroughly check to ensure fairness.)</li>
    <li><strong>If you enter more than once, only activate one comment.</strong> This is pretty self explanatory. Just be careful and you'll be fine.<strong><br /></strong></li>
    <li><strong>Contest is open to anyone in the 50 States, 18 or older! </strong>Sorry, we don't make this rule (we hate excluding <em>anyone</em>), so be mad at our lawyers and contest laws if you have to be mad.<br /></li>
    <li><strong>Winner will be chosen randomly.</strong> The winners will receive one (1) of three (3) bags filled with totally awesome CES swag. Approximate value is incalculable.<br /></li>
    <li><strong>Entries can be submitted until Monday, January 26th, 11:59PM ET. </strong>Good luck!</li>
    <li><a href="http://www.engadget.com/official-giveaways-rules/">Full rules can be found here.</a></li>

<div align="left">Man, it just isn't fair -- we keep seeing all these kick-ass new <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/vendingmachine">vending machines</a>, but when we want a can of Mr. Pibb or RC Cola we're stuck feeding quarters into something that looks like it was last serviced whenever <em>Pac-Man Fever</em> went storming up the charts. Then again, that's probably what we get for spending all our time in pool halls and bowling alleys. If you're lucky enough to head to one of the 190-plus (and growing!) malls owned by the Simon Property Group sometime in the not too distant future, you just might have the pleasure of getting your cold, satisfying beverage from one of the new-fashioned touch screen Coke machines from Sapient. The screen is pretty much the entire front of the machine, and the interface is simple (as you'd expect), but pretty cool nonetheless -- select your pop bottle, spin it around, take a look at the ingredients, and vend -- quasi-<em>Minority Report</em>-style. "Futuretistic," no? This thing takes cash and plastic, and it should be out in the US soon enough -- readers in Europe and the UK will have to wait until sometime in 2010 to get in on the action. Video after the break.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/touchscreen-coke-machine/">Touchscreen Coke Machine</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/touchscreen-coke-machine/1297429/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/090116-cokegallery-01_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/touchscreen-coke-machine/1297431/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/090116-cokegallery-02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/touchscreen-coke-machine/1297430/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/090116-cokegallery-03_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><br />[Thanks, Trent]</div>

<div align="left">This is it! We just received video of the only pico projector endorsed by Russell Crowe (if by "endorsed" you mean "absolutely not endorsed," and by "Russell Crowe" you mean "<a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/11/10/aiptek-pocket-cinema-v10-available-for-pre-order-on-amazon/">the poor target of our Photoshoppery</a>"). For a handheld VGA projector, the thing seems to handle itself pretty well. It's small and simple to use, but then again it doesn't really seem all that bright (something you might notice if you ever need it to, we don't know, "project" something). This bad boy has 1GB internal memory, an SD slot, and miniUSB, which should handle most of your I/O needs. Be sure to check out the explosive videos -- generously provided by <a href="http://translate.google.com/translate?prev=&amp;hl=en&amp;ie=UTF-8&amp;u=http%3A%2F%2Fes.engadget.com%2F2009%2F01%2F12%2Faiptek-pocketcinema-v10-en-video-ces-2009%2F&amp;sl=es&amp;tl=en&amp;history_state0=">Engadget Spanish</a> -- after the break.<br /></div>

We swung by D-Link's booth at CES to check out its upcoming <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/sidestage/">SideStage</a> USB-powered monitor, hoping to see the thing in action and get some more details ahead of its release. What we found was quite <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/nanovision"><em>familiar</em></a> looking, to say the least. D-Link was disappointingly just demoing a Nanovision, but was quick to point out this would not be the product destined for a full US release sometime this summer. That new display will still be produced by Nanovision, but will be modified to better suit our market, graced with a different logo, and cheaper, too. No firm price yet, but the company is targeting sub-$100, which sounds good to us.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/ces/" rel="tag">CES</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/displays/" rel="tag">Displays</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/13/more-details-on-d-links-upcoming-7-inch-sidestage-usb-monitor/">More details on D-Link's upcoming 7-inch SideStage USB monitor</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 13 Jan 2009 14:34:00 EST. So, there's good news and bad news. Being that we enjoy handing out the former first, we'll point out the fact that the Windows Mobile-powered <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2008/11/18/winmo-powered-icephone-comes-to-life-looks-scary/">iCEphone</a> made the trip to Vegas in order to be showcased at CES. The bad? There's still no pricing nor US availability to take into consideration. Granted, the phone <em>is</em> designed to be used primarily during emergencies, but that doesn't make patience any easier to come by.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://onlygizmos.com/icephone-spotted-at-ces/2009/01/">OnlyGizmos</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cellphones/" rel="tag">Cellphones</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/ces/" rel="tag">CES</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/12/icephone-makes-trip-to-ces-remains-unwieldy/">iCEphone makes trip to CES, remains unwieldy</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 12 Jan 2009 14:41:00 EST. Well this was one for the record books. Between the full-court press of <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/tag/3d">3DHD</a>, Sony's announcement of the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/VAIOP/">VAIO P</a> netbook... er, ultraportable, and the nuclear bomb that was the Palm <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Pre/">Pre</a> announcement, no one will forget this CES anytime soon. As in previous years, the Engadget team came, saw, and worked nonstop to cover every piece of gear we could get our hands on. After keeping it in the red for days on end, we're all feeling pretty burnt and ready for a long nap, but insanely stoked that we could bring you CES the way it's meant to be experienced: like a screaming neon blur.<br /><br />We'll be back in full force for CES 2010, but until then, you can gestate on our <strong>hard numbers</strong> and <strong>sad trailer teardown video</strong> after the break.<br /><strong><br />Update:</strong> We're adding pics to the gallery, and just added a new video of us working as we normally do.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/what-happens-in-vegas-doesnt-stay-in-vegas-engadget-departs-ces/">What happens in Vegas doesn't stay in Vegas -- Engadget departs CES</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/what-happens-in-vegas-doesnt-stay-in-vegas-engadget-departs-ces/1284919/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/ces-hijinks-002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/what-happens-in-vegas-doesnt-stay-in-vegas-engadget-departs-ces/1284916/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/ces-hijinks-006_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/what-happens-in-vegas-doesnt-stay-in-vegas-engadget-departs-ces/1284914/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/ces-hijinks-007_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/what-happens-in-vegas-doesnt-stay-in-vegas-engadget-departs-ces/1286266/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/cessss0901_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/what-happens-in-vegas-doesnt-stay-in-vegas-engadget-departs-ces/1286265/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/cessss0902_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/engadget-ces-2009-trailer-teardown/">Engadget CES 2009 trailer teardown</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/engadget-ces-2009-trailer-teardown/1282523/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/dsc_0061-ces-eng-breakdown_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/engadget-ces-2009-trailer-teardown/1282522/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/dsc_0084-ces-eng-breakdown_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/engadget-ces-2009-trailer-teardown/1282521/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/dsc_0079-ces-eng-breakdown_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/engadget-ces-2009-trailer-teardown/1282520/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/dsc_0072-ces-eng-breakdown_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/engadget-ces-2009-trailer-teardown/1282519/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/dsc_0068-ces-eng-breakdown_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/12/what-happens-in-vegas-doesnt-stay-in-vegas-engadget-departs/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>What happens in Vegas doesn't stay in Vegas -- Engadget departs CES</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/ces/" rel="tag">CES</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/12/what-happens-in-vegas-doesnt-stay-in-vegas-engadget-departs/">What happens in Vegas doesn't stay in Vegas -- Engadget departs CES</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 12 Jan 2009 14:12:00 EST. Now here's a <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/2009/01/05/gesturetek-brings-3d-and-gestures-together-for-remote-control/">novel concept</a>. The Amulet Remote, designed specifically for Vista Media Center but likely adaptable to other setups, is a voice-activated controller that enables users to record a series, watch a recorded show, skip to a new playlist or queue up a photo slideshow by simply <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/2007/09/26/the-public-has-spoken-voice-recognition-is-the-winner/">hooting and hollering</a>. The built-in microphone is there to take whatever vocal abuse you feel is warranted, and there are even a few actual buttons if you're still fond of the tried-and-true approach. It's expected to ship in March for a palatable $299; have a look at what it can do for you in the video after the break.<br /><br />[Thanks, Vanbrothers]<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/12/amulet-remote-actually-listens-when-you-yell-at-it/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Amulet Remote actually listens when you yell at it</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/ces/" rel="tag">CES</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/homeentertainment/" rel="tag">Home Entertainment</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/12/amulet-remote-actually-listens-when-you-yell-at-it/">Amulet Remote actually listens when you yell at it</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 12 Jan 2009 13:11:00 EST. Did you <em>really</em> just introduce a pair of music systems that get down with <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/slotMusic/">slotMusic</a> players? Though it's practically impossible for us to believe that such an occurrence has just, um, occurred, the 160-watt XL-DH258NH and 64-watt XL-DH228NH micro-audio systems actually do include a USB port for syncing up with SanDisk slotMusic players (along with any other USB-enabled PMP, we presume). Of course, Sharp did hedge its bets by including an iPod dock along with a universal auxiliary input, so we suppose we can't harsh on 'em too much. Both units arrive in any color you like so long as it's glossy black, and there's even an AM / FM radio, six-band equalizer and alarm clock tossed in for good measure. Catch the XL-DH258NH this June for $199.99 or the XL-DH228NH in July for $179.99.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.itechnews.net/2009/01/11/sharp-xl-dh258nh-and-xl-dh228nh-audio-systems-support-slotmusic/">iTechNews</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/ces/" rel="tag">CES</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/homeentertainment/" rel="tag">Home Entertainment</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portableaudio/" rel="tag">Portable Audio</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/12/sharp-does-the-unthinkable-intros-slotmusic-friendly-sound-syst/">Sharp does the unthinkable, intros slotMusic-friendly sound systems</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 12 Jan 2009 12:33:00 EST. Here at Engadget, we don't spend an awful lot of time dabbling in <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/os/">operating systems</a>, but when Phoenix Technologies offered us the chance to check out its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/06/phoenix-technologies-relaunches-hyperspace-instant-on-os-now-ta/">HyperSpace instant-on OS</a>, we just couldn't resist. After all, it's hard to ignore the allure of reported sub-10 second bootup times on portable-by-nature machines (often referred to as "netbooks," for those camped under rocks). Considering that HyperSpace is well on its way to a netbook near you (we're told that undisclosed partnerships should be completely hammered out within the next few months), why not follow us past the break to see if the system really is all it's cracked up to be.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/12/phoenix-technologies-hyperspace-instant-on-os-review/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Phoenix Technologies HyperSpace instant-on OS review</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/ces/" rel="tag">CES</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/laptops/" rel="tag">Laptops</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/12/phoenix-technologies-hyperspace-instant-on-os-review/">Phoenix Technologies HyperSpace instant-on OS review</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 12 Jan 2009 10:33:00 EST. Samsung's booth was a fairly massive affair with just about everything "CES" you can think of on display. While we missed the portable projector phone, dubbed the <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2008/05/14/3m-mini-projectors-set-to-land-in-with-samsung-phones-later-th/">Samsung Show</a>, we did see a flexible <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2009/01/08/oled-association-and-samsung-show-flexible-screen/">OLED display</a>, washing machines, vending machines, TVs, and a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/samsung">mountain</a> of other <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/tag/samsung">gear</a>. <div align="left">LG's booth was, like some of the other heavy tech hitters, filled to overflowing with everything we came here to see. From <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/09/lgs-new-x120-netbook-with-splashtop-powered-instant-on/">netbooks</a>, the GD910 <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/08/video-lg-watch-phone-hands-on/">watch phone</a>, an <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/07/eyes-on-with-lgs-near-production-15-inch-oled-tv-come-on-summe/">OLED TV</a>, and who can forget the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/11/lgs-renoir-spokesperson-he-will-jump-for-you-ladies-and-gentl/">LG Renoir</a>? They most definitely kept us, and the giant crowds milling about, smiling. Hop through for a vid with some booth highlights, and there's a gallery right here stuffed with pics of all the candy.<br /></div>

<div align="left"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Microsoft/">Microsoft</a> brought less instead of more to the show and was on hand mostly to highlight Windows 7. We peeked at the multi-touch functionality of the new OS (see the vid after the break), Zune, Xbox 360 <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/10/xbox-360-iptv-dream-not-dead-yet/">dreams</a>, and learned that <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/10/microsoft-culling-the-winmo-herd-fewer-phones-to-be-offered/">less is more</a> as far as Windows Mobile is concerned. Microsoft's booth also seemed to take the prize for grandest use of gaudy colors in a display, well done Microsoft! Gallery is below and the vid is just a click away.<br /></div>

<div align="left">Though it has been out for some time, we'd not had the chance to really check out LG's Renoir properly -- even though Engadget Spanish has had a <a href="http://es.engadget.com/2008/10/16/presentacion-del-lg-renoir-en-espana/">chance</a>. Of course, <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/tag/LG/">LG</a>'s massive booth featured an area dedicated to this 8 megapixel effort that we had to almost fight through to get at this phone. The interface is good, the weight and feel in-hand doesn't come off as $10 plasti-crap, and the touchscreen does seem to get its job done. <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2009/01/11/lgs-renoir-spokesperson-he-will-jump-for-you-ladies-and-gentl/">Crazy presentations</a> aside, LG's Renoir is a really solid effort, color us suitably impressed. Engadget Mobile has the gallery.<br /></div>

We may not have covered too many products in the North Hall at this year's CES, a mecca for vehicle customizers and their wares, but that's mainly because we have a hard time keeping up with the latest in LED and hydraulic technologies as applied to motorized pursuits. But, there were a few sweet rides scattered about, and while we can't say we'd necessarily allow ourselves to be seen in most of them, there was at least <span style="font-style: italic;">one</span> intelligently modded muscle car in particular that we just couldn't resist capturing some video of. We think you'll recognize it below. <br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/north-hall-tour/">North Hall Tour</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/north-hall-tour/1278991/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/north-hall-066_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/north-hall-tour/1278957/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/north-hall-003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/north-hall-tour/1278969/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/north-hall-006_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/north-hall-tour/1278976/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/north-hall-009_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/north-hall-tour/1278968/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/north-hall-010_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/11/ces-2009-north-hall-tour-like-hot-import-nights-minus-the-tire/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>CES 2009 North Hall tour: like Hot Import Nights minus the tire smoke</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/ces/" rel="tag">CES</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gadgets/" rel="tag">Misc. Behind closed doors at the Haier booth, we got a chance to check out two Ibiza Rhapsody PMP prototypes, codenamed Rumble and Rumble mini. Here's what we know so far: the Rumble's got a 2.8-inch WQVGA capacitive touchscreen, 8GB NAND flash, and a Freescale i.MX37 ARM 11 processor. It also has a Webkit-based browser, but it -- along with most of the operating system and virtual keyboard -- wasn't functional at the moment. There's support for AAC, MP3, and WMA, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, H263, H.264, VC-1, and DivX. The Rumble mini trades out touchscreen in favor of an input pad and a smaller 2.2-inch screen. Beyond Rhapsody service, both models will feature integration with Flickr, Audible, and the ever-vague "popular social networking" sites. Battery life for the Rumble is expected to be about 15 hours for audio and 6 for video, while for the mini it's 14 and 4, respectively. It's surprisingly lightweight at the moment, but other than that we really don't have much to say until we can see the interface in action. Both players are on track for a June release for a penny under $150 for the touchscreen and $100 for the mini.<br /> <div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/ibizia-rumble-prototype-hands-on-at-ces-2009/">Ibiza Rumble prototype hands-on: a touchscreen Rhapsody PMP at CES 2009</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/ibizia-rumble-prototype-hands-on-at-ces-2009/1276944/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/img_0350-ibiza-prototype_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/ibizia-rumble-prototype-hands-on-at-ces-2009/1276943/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/img_0347-ibiza-prototype_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/ibizia-rumble-prototype-hands-on-at-ces-2009/1276942/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/img_0352-ibiza-prototype_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/ibizia-rumble-prototype-hands-on-at-ces-2009/1276941/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/img_0356-ibiza-prototype_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/ibizia-rumble-prototype-hands-on-at-ces-2009/1276940/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/img_0348-ibiza-prototype_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/ibiza-rumble-prototype/">Ibiza Rumble prototype</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/ibiza-rumble-prototype/1277407/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/photo_display1h-ibiza-rumble-ces-09-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/ibiza-rumble-prototype/1277406/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/orangetouchperspective_sm-ibiza-rumble-ces-09-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/ibiza-rumble-prototype/1277405/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/orangecapacitiveperspective-ibiza-rumble-ces-09-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/ibiza-rumble-prototype/1277404/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/keyboard_big-ibiza-rumble-ces-09-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/ibiza-rumble-prototype/1277403/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/greenminiperspective-ibiza-rumble-ces-09-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/ces/" rel="tag">CES</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portableaudio/" rel="tag">Portable Audio</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portablevideo/" rel="tag">Portable Video</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/11/ibiza-rumble-prototype-hands-on-a-touchscreen-pmp-with-rhapsody/">Ibiza Rumble prototype hands-on: a touchscreen PMP with Rhapsody, webkit browser</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sun, 11 Jan 2009 14:31:00 EST. As promised, we've made a run over to check out Viliv's forthcoming S7 netbook tablet, bringing along the ever-popular <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/vaiop">VAIO P</a> to see how the two stack up (as well as an Eee <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/1000h">1000H</a> for good measure). As you can see, the S7 actually isn't that much larger than the Sony, maybe 30 percent thicker and a little bit wider, but also a bit shorter. The thing manages to find room for a track pad on top of the keyboard, but it's an awfully small one, so thank goodness for the (non-multi) touch screen. Also small is that keyboard, which is one of the most painful we've yet experienced on a netbook, featuring arrow and punctuation keys that even a pygmy would fat-finger. But, compromises must be made when making machines small, and small this one is. Viliv has written a custom skin that overlays the Windows XP install, demonstrated in a video below. It's reasonably pleasant to use (minimizing the need to rely on that tiny trackpad), but is also easy to exit if you're not feeling it. We already know the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/10/vilivs-s7-ultra-portable-gets-official-specs-but-not-a-release/">specs</a> of this tiny convertible, so the only mysteries left are "when" followed immediately by "how much." The answers we received to those questions are unfortunately a bit vague: "before this summer" and a rather predictable "less than the VAIO P." We're guessing it'll be a <em>lot</em> less. Oh, and for those examining the gallery, don't worry about the rough edges you might spy: this is a pre-production S7, so things should be a good bit more polished when it hits retail.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/viliv-s7/">Viliv S7</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/viliv-s7/1278679/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/north-hall-042_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/viliv-s7/1278678/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/north-hall-035_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/viliv-s7/1278677/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/north-hall-028_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/viliv-s7/1278676/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/north-hall-025_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/viliv-s7/1278675/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/north-hall-043_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/11/video-viliv-s7-hands-on-and-vaio-p-comparo/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Video: Viliv S7 hands on and VAIO P comparo</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/ces/" rel="tag">CES</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/laptops/" rel="tag">Laptops</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/tabletpcs/" rel="tag">Tablet PCs</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/11/video-viliv-s7-hands-on-and-vaio-p-comparo/">Video: Viliv S7 hands on and VAIO P comparo</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sun, 11 Jan 2009 13:33:00 EST. It looks like ASUS is about to carve out another unexpected niche for itself with its Eee Top all-in-one PC. The 15.6-inch touchscreen coupled with ASUS' touch-friendly user interface (riding an XP / Atom N270 underpinning) and industrial design definitely looked and felt like a winner. Sure, the UI could use some more polish, and the occasional menu pull-out was positioned too close to the bezel's edge for easy touching. But we could easily see an Eee Top making its way into our lair as a secondary PC when it begins shipping Stateside in "a few weeks" -- especially for a $599 MSRP.<br />

Mobile TV <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2008/11/15/research-finds-mobile-tv-as-unseductive-as-ever-though-vod-seem?icid=sphere_wpcom_inline">hasn't even taken off</a> in the cellphone market, but it's already looking to take another sector by storm. AT&amp;T has announced here at CES that its CruiseCast in-car satellite TV service will be launching this Spring, and we're told to expect 22 channels initially and 20 sat radio stations to boot. Not surprisingly, the system will set you back somethin' fierce: it'll cost $1,299 for the kit and $28 per month for the service. From the start, the channel lineup will include Disney Channel, Discovery Kids, Animal Planet, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network Mobile, USA, MSNBC, CNN Mobile Live and CNBC (among others), and you'll be required to install a three pound 11.3- x 10.3- x 4.3-inch antenna on the roof of your vehicle. Oh, and if you're looking for a little test drive before you buy in, Avis and Budget are expected to make it available in some locales for $9 a day or $63 per week.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://tech.yahoo.com/news/pcworld/20090110/tc_pcworld/atttolaunchincarsatellitetvservice">PC World</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/ces/" rel="tag">CES</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portablevideo/" rel="tag">Portable Video</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/11/atandt-cruisecast-in-car-satellite-tv-service-launching-this-sprin/">AT&amp;T CruiseCast in-car satellite TV service launching this Spring</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sun, 11 Jan 2009 10:25:00 EST. Given a year to work on its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/11/hands-flailing-wildly-with-toshibas-spursengine-laptop/">gesture control technology</a>, Toshiba has upgraded from the simple implementation of 2008 to a new <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/11/hands-flailing-wildly-with-toshibas-spursengine-laptop/">3D interface </a>that rotates and zooms photos and videos with a flick of the arm. Useful? We're not completely sold. Still ridiculous to use, or watch someone else try? Of course, video's after the break.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/11/video-hands-flailing-wildly-with-toshiba-spatial-motion-interfa/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Video: Hands flailing wildly with Toshiba Spatial Motion Interface</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/ces/" rel="tag">CES</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/homeentertainment/" rel="tag">Home Entertainment</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/11/video-hands-flailing-wildly-with-toshiba-spatial-motion-interfa/">Video: Hands flailing wildly with Toshiba Spatial Motion Interface</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sun, 11 Jan 2009 05:37:00 EST. Corsair's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/05/21/corsair-dominator-memory-sets-new-ddr3-speed-record/">Dominator</a> memory can apparently get quite hot, particularly if the overclocking bug catches you right. If a product shown off at CES hits the commercial market, however, everything is sure to stay cool. The <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2005/10/19/the-peltier-beer-personal-beverage-cooler/">Peltier</a> cooling device is expected to play nice with second-gen Dominator modules, and when attached to existing heatsinks it can be used to cool a larger heat block in pretty much any water cooling setup. We know, you're probably scratching your head, but hop on past the break for a quick video demonstration.<br /><br />[Thanks, Ryan]<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/11/corsairs-peltier-memory-cooler-gets-demonstrated/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Corsair's Peltier memory cooler gets demonstrated</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/ces/" rel="tag">CES</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/storage/" rel="tag">Storage</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/11/corsairs-peltier-memory-cooler-gets-demonstrated/">Corsair's Peltier memory cooler gets demonstrated</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sun, 11 Jan 2009 03:42:00 EST. If you haven't seen enough of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/TRENDnet/">TRENDnet</a> here at CES, you haven't been looking, but for those in need of a new wireless router, these choices are certainly sights for sore eyes. The latest entry from the company here in Vegas is the TEW-673GR 300Mbps Concurrent Dual-Band Wireless N Gigabit Router. Constructed with a dual-band Atheros chipset, the device can handle both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks simultaneously; essentially, this enables low-bandwidth clients to be assigned to the more congested 2.4GHz band while high-bandwidth, latency-sensitive applications (such as HD streaming and online gaming) head to the uncongested 5GHz band. Can't help you out on a price, but it should be filtering out in short order.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/ces/" rel="tag">CES</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/networking/" rel="tag">Networking</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/11/trendnet-unloads-one-more-at-ces-tew-673gr-wireless-n-gigabit-r/">TRENDnet unloads one more at CES: TEW-673GR Wireless N gigabit router</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sun, 11 Jan 2009 01:50:00 EST. Multi-touch is where it's at, but what if you already have one of those lame, obsolete, big-screen, flat-panel displays that accept only smudges from your fingers? What you need is a Multi-Touch G2 from PQLabs, an overlay that attaches to your existing 32-inch (or larger) set with double-sided tape, adding the multi-touch sensitivity that your fingertips have been yearning for. The company has also announced its upcoming iTable, effectively a multi-touch panel with a built-in computer, having something in common with Microsoft's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/surface">Surface</a>, but nothing with Apple's iPhone (from which it dishearteningly takes a naming cue). We spent a few minutes with our fingers stroking both the iTable and the Multi-Touch G2 and were impressed by both; they initially seemed a bit unresponsive but, within a few seconds, we were browsing media, building grunts, and decimating forests in no time. Playing an RTS like <em>Warcraft 3</em> with gestures is a fantastic experience no strategy gamer should miss, but, at $2,399, is one that only the richest of tacticians can put in their buy queue. No pricing for the iTable just yet, but expect it to be more.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/10/video-pqlabs-itable-digits-on-lets-us-touch-orcs-movies-me-to/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Video: PQLabs iTable digits-on lets us touch orcs, movies, me-too branding</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/ces/" rel="tag">CES</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/desktops/" rel="tag">Desktops</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/displays/" rel="tag">Displays</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gaming/" rel="tag">Gaming</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/hdtv/" rel="tag">HDTV</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/10/video-pqlabs-itable-digits-on-lets-us-touch-orcs-movies-me-to/">Video: PQLabs iTable digits-on lets us touch orcs, movies, me-too branding</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sat, 10 Jan 2009 20:18:00 EST. Remember <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/01/07/iptv-on-xbox-360-is-for-real/">Xbox 360 IPTV</a> rollout? Though the wonderful fantasy of <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/01/08/xbox-360-iptv-interface-gallery/">replacing our stodgy cable DVRs</a> with an all-in-one <em>Left 4 Dead </em>playing / channel surfing beast has dried up like a raisin in the sun, Dave Zatz confirmed with Microsoft booth reps that BT is (still) planning on deploying the service, and despite the NXE the UI will retain the look of the current Motorola boxes pictured above. Now that U-Verse has delivered <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/tag/totalhomedvr">Total Home DVR</a> and upgraded beyond 1 HD stream at a time, maybe they can get to work on this deployment next?<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/ces/" rel="tag">CES</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/hdtv/" rel="tag">HDTV</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/homeentertainment/" rel="tag">Home Entertainment</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/10/xbox-360-iptv-dream-not-dead-yet/">Xbox 360 IPTV dream not dead yet</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sat, 10 Jan 2009 20:01:00 EST. It's an upcoming processor intended for mobile devices that's aspiring to speeds in the 1GHz and beyond range. While we're expecting it'll be most commonly found in smartphones and the like (particularly <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/10/29/asus-said-to-be-launching-android-handset-in-first-half-of-09/">those from Asus</a>), there's a chance these could show up in some low(er) cost netbooks, too, possibly helping to keep that <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/02/27/sony-exec-sees-eee-like-pcs-as-having-potentially-negative-impac/">race to the bottom</a> going for a few more laps yet. <br /><br />[Via <a href="http://gadgetmix.com/index/?p=2583">GadgetMix.com</a>, thx Kamal]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cellphones/" rel="tag">Cellphones</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/ces/" rel="tag">CES</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/laptops/" rel="tag">Laptops</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/10/marvell-announces-1ghz-processor-for-tiny-things-that-need-big-p/">Marvell announces 1GHz processor for tiny things that need big power</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sat, 10 Jan 2009 19:29:00 EST. <div align="left">OK, the Motorola <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/tag/Aura/">Aura</a> isn't new at <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/tag/CES/">CES</a> this year, but honestly, how could you expect us to pass up an opportunity to check it out? So yeah, we might have been harsh on it when we were talking price, but up close this is an amazing little phone. The housing material, build quality, keys, assisted-opening blade mechanism, and sapphire crystal lens are all perfectly done, the display -- while admittedly tiny -- is nothing short of completely stunning. This is without a doubt one of the nicer phones we've handled, though the jury's still out on functionality. Follow on to Engadget Mobile for a gallery loaded with pics that we're hoping show just how beautiful this thing really is. End of gush.<br /></div>

If there's one thing for sure here at CES it's that we've seen a bunch of multitouch devices, both <a href="http://engadget.com/tag/Pre">good</a> and <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/08/cobys-mp836-hands-on-when-not-quite-ready-for-primetime-is-a/">bad</a>. Add this 50-inch multitouch display from Samsung to the list titled "cool as hell." Once we were done snapping <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/09/video-samsung-p3-pmp-hands-on/">shots of the P3</a>, we saw people surrounding this bad boy so we decided to see what was up. We don't have much info but one thing's for sure: these devices are much more fun when you're just playing around rather than using it for some more <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/06/video-smart-table-50-inch-multitouch-interactive-display-panel/">meaningful purpose</a>. It's been <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/08/20/intel-shows-off-next-gen-convertible-classmate-pc/">five months</a> since we first heard about the convertible Classmate PC, and now we've finally gotten a chance to get our hands on it at the Intel booth. It feels pretty durable -- especially that <em>kind of</em> important display swivel -- but we take issue with how lopsided the weight is towards the back. The Quick Launcher Windows XP shell lives up to the name and is indeed very fast and easy to navigate. When we rotated the tablet on its side, however, the interface awkwardly fills in only the top half. According to the rep, there's no US distributor yet for retail. We've been trying to get a legitimate hands-on with <a href="http://engadget.com/tag/Sony">Sony's</a> OLED-infused Walkman since <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/07/sony-unveils-walkman-nwz-x1000-oled-touchscreen-player/">we first caught</a> the device on Wednesday, but security's been super tight in the Sony booth and we couldn't distract anyone long enough to unscrew the casing. So we can't get an actual hands-on with the Walkman, but we don't need to touch it to know that the OLED is seriously gorgeous and the UI looks super crisp. Sony's reluctance to pull this out of its casing seems to show the player's not ready for primetime, but we'll keep trying to get something a bit more gratifying.<br /><br /><strong>Update: </strong>Engadget Spanish got a video of the device in action, so check after the jump if you wanna see more and learn a little espa&ntilde;ol. <br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/sony-oled-walkman-nwz-x1000-eyes-on/">Sony OLED Walkman NWZ-X1000 eyes-on</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/sony-oled-walkman-nwz-x1000-eyes-on/1276218/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/ces-sony-oled-walkman-4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/sony-oled-walkman-nwz-x1000-eyes-on/1276217/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/ces-sony-oled-walkman-3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/sony-oled-walkman-nwz-x1000-eyes-on/1276216/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/ces-sony-oled-walkman-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/sony-oled-walkman-nwz-x1000-eyes-on/1276215/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/ces-sony-oled-walkman-5_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/sony-oled-walkman-nwz-x1000-eyes-on/1276214/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/ces-sony-oled-walkman-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/10/sony-oled-walkman-nwz-x1000-eyes-on/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Sony OLED Walkman NWZ-X1000 eyes-on</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/ces/" rel="tag">CES</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portableaudio/" rel="tag">Portable Audio</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/portablevideo/" rel="tag">Portable Video</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/10/sony-oled-walkman-nwz-x1000-eyes-on/">Sony OLED Walkman NWZ-X1000 eyes-on</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sat, 10 Jan 2009 16:41:00 EST. WiFi cameras are far from new -- over the past couple of years, we've seen <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/09/hands-on-with-panasonic-t-mobile-wifi-camera-technology/">P&amp;S</a> after <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2005/12/23/nikons-coolpix-s6-wifi-camera-leaked/">P&amp;S</a> arrive with minimal functionality that would allow it to sync pictures with one specific online photo portal (or similar). Sony has stepped up the game for cameras to come with the Cyber-shot DSC-G3, which is the first of its kind to include a web browser for logging into pay-hotspots and uploading to practically any photo sharing site on the web. <em>Popular Science</em> got to handle one for a few weeks, and in the end, they were in love with the idea but hesitant to praise the execution. The <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/08/07/sony-introduces-cyber-shot-dsc-t700-and-dsc-t77-digicams/">T700</a>-turned-wireless took satisfactory pictures, but the browser experience was less than awesome. You can hit the read link for all the dirty details, but unless you're willing to deal with "agonizingly" slow load times, you're probably better off waiting for the next revision. Or for some other company to whip out a bona fide competitor.<br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/sony-cyber-shot-dsc-g3-launches-worlds-first-wifi-camera-with-web-browser/">Sony Cyber-shot DSC-G3 launches: world's first WiFi camera with web browser</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/sony-cyber-shot-dsc-g3-launches-worlds-first-wifi-camera-with-web-browser/1267837/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/g3_with-hand-02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/sony-cyber-shot-dsc-g3-launches-worlds-first-wifi-camera-with-web-browser/1267836/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/g3_rr_right-open1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/sony-cyber-shot-dsc-g3-launches-worlds-first-wifi-camera-with-web-browser/1267835/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/g3_right-open_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/sony-cyber-shot-dsc-g3-launches-worlds-first-wifi-camera-with-web-browser/1267834/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/g3_main-close_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/sony-cyber-shot-dsc-g3-launches-worlds-first-wifi-camera-with-web-browser/1267833/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/g3_bk_side_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/ces/" rel="tag">CES</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/digitalcameras/" rel="tag">Digital Cameras</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/10/sony-cyber-shot-dsc-g3-wifi-camera-reviewed-wait-for-generation/">Sony Cyber-shot DSC-G3 WiFi camera reviewed: wait for generation two</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sat, 10 Jan 2009 15:12:00 EST. <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/tag/Ces2009/">CES 2009</a> didn't seen any new size records in terms of diagonal size, but it was still <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/2009/01/09/engadget-hd-podcast-117-01-09-2009-ces-edition/">a huge year</a> for high-def. <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/3D/">3D</a> was absolutely everywhere, Blu-ray players were impossible to miss and the internet finally <a href="http://www.engadgethd.com/tag/connectedHDTV/">found its way</a> to the HDTV. Microsoft's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/sync">Sync</a> hasn't exactly taken the automotive world by storm, but the updates coming to <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/08/sync-adds-turn-by-turn-traffic-reports-for-some-2010-fords/">2010 Fords</a> seem like they could earn the service a little respect. Microsoft has added a suite of new services including voice-driven news, traffic info, and directions. We got a quick demonstration inside a shiny new Ford Escape, which kindly provided us with directions to the world's 35th-largest hydroelectric dam (you can find your way to the video below). We also got some further details on how the service uses Bluetooth to tether to any handset, downloading content using a voice call so that you can use this completely fee-free -- even if you don't have a data plan. Yes the display is simplistic to say the least, but having access to this kind of functionality without recurring monthly charges (for three years, at least) sounds fantastic to us. <br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/ford-sync/">Ford Sync</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/ford-sync/1274401/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/microsoft-sync-escape-09_thumbnail.jpg" alt="Ford Sync" title="Ford Sync" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/ford-sync/1274400/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/microsoft-sync-escape-06_thumbnail.jpg" alt="Ford Sync" title="Ford Sync" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/ford-sync/1274399/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/microsoft-sync-escape-10_thumbnail.jpg" alt="Ford Sync" title="Ford Sync" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/ford-sync/1274398/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/microsoft-sync-escape-07_thumbnail.jpg" alt="Ford Sync" title="Ford Sync" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/ford-sync/1274397/"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2009/01/microsoft-sync-escape-02_thumbnail.jpg" alt="Ford Sync" title="Ford Sync" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/10/microsofts-new-sync-hands-eyes-and-ears-on/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Video: Microsoft's new Sync hands, eyes, and ears on</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/ces/" rel="tag">CES</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/transportation/" rel="tag">Transportation</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/10/microsofts-new-sync-hands-eyes-and-ears-on/">Video: Microsoft's new Sync hands, eyes, and ears on</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sat, 10 Jan 2009 06:58:00 EST. <div align="left">The short, happy history of 3D gaming has been unimpressive -- dual-display glasses and high-priced 3D monitors have generally failed to bring source material originally built for two dimensions into the three dimensional world. Keeping this in mind, the kids at bit-tech seem to be as wary as we are, but when all is said and done they came away from the sordid affair rather impressed. "An excellent piece of tech," they said -- one that actually seems to work on existing games -- although the fact that a new monitor is required to use it "knocks the legs out from underneath." Sure, it worked well enough that the well-heeled, hardcore gamer might be interested in it, but for the time being this doesn't seem to be an option for the casual consumer. But don't take our word for it: hit the read link for the in-depth review.</div>
